Chapter: The Punishment Of The One Who Seeks The People's Pleasure By Allah's Wrath And The Opposite

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ الْوَرْدِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ

كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنْ اكْتُبِي إِلَيَّ كِتَابًا تُوصِينِي فِيهِ وَلَا تُكْثِرِي عَلَيَّ فَكَتَبَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ الْتَمَسَ رِضَا اللَّهِ بِسَخَطِ النَّاسِ كَفَاهُ اللَّهُ مُؤْنَةَ النَّاسِ وَمَنْ الْتَمَسَ رِضَا النَّاسِ بِسَخَطِ اللَّهِ وَكَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى النَّاسِ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا كَتَبَتْ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَاهُ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ

Telah menceritakan kepada kami Suwaid bin Nashr telah menceritakan kepada kami Abdullah bin Al Mubarak dari 'Abdul Wahhab bin Al Ward dari seorang penduduk Madinah, dia berkata: Mu'awiyah menulis surat kepada Aisyah Ummul Mu`minin radhiallahu 'anha supaya dia menulis surat yang berisi wasiat kepadanya dan isinya tidak panjang panjang, Aisyah menulis surat kepada Mu'awiyah:

SALAAMUN 'ALAIKA, aku mendengar Rasulullah Shallallahu 'alaihi wa Salam bersabda:

"Barangsiapa yang mencari keredhaan Allah sekalipun memperoleh kebencian manusia, Allah akan mencukupkan dia dari kebergantungan kepada manusia dan barangsiapa yang mencari keredhaan manusia dengan mendatangkan kemurkaan dari Allah, maka Allah akan menjadikannya bergantung kepada manusia, WASSALAMU 'ALAIKA. 

Telah menceritakan kepada kami Muhammad bin Yahya telah menceritakan kepada kami Muhammad bin Yusuf dari Sufyan Ats Tsauri dari Hisyam bin 'Urwah dari ayahnya dari 'Aisyah, dia menulis surat kepada Mu'awiyah, kemudian dia menyebutkan hadith yang semakna namun tidak memarfu'kannya (tidak menyambungkan sampai Nabi).

'Abdul-Wahhab bin Al-Ward narrated from a man among the inhabitants of Al-Madinah who said:

"Mu'awiyah wrote a letter to 'Aishah, that: 'Write a letter to advise me , and do not overburden me.'" He said: "So 'Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her] wrote to Mu'awiyah: 'Peace be upon you. As for what follows: Indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saying: 

Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure by the people's wrath, Allah will suffice him from the people. And who ever seeks the people's pleasure by Allah's wrath, Allah will entrust him to the people. And Peace be upon you.'"

Dalam hadits disebutkan,

مَنِ الْتَمَسَ رِضَاءَ اللَّهِ بِسَخَطِ النَّاسِ كَفَاهُ اللَّهُ مُؤْنَةَ النَّاسِ وَمَنِ الْتَمَسَ رِضَاءَ النَّاسِ بِسَخَطِ اللَّهِ وَكَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى النَّاسِ

“Barangsiapa yang mencari rida Allah saat manusia tidak suka, maka Allah akan cukupkan dia dari beban manusia. Barangsiapa yang mencari rida manusi, tetapi Allah itu murka, maka Allah akan biarkan dia bergantung kepada manusia.” 

(HR. Tirmidzi, no. 2414. Al-Hafizh Abu Thahir mengatakan bahwa hadits ini hasan).

Verily, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil in our own souls and from our sinful deeds. And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has indeed achieved a great achievement. To proceed: Verily, the truest speech is the Book of Allah. The best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst affairs are the innovated ones. Every innovated matter is a heresy. every heresy is misguidance. every misguidance is in the Hell-fire. In the work before you, Dr. Umar a well-known contemporary scholar of Islam, has attempted to tackle two important topics. The first topic is that of the characteristics of the jinn. The second topic is the characteristics and methodology of Satan himself. The first topic concerning the characteristics of the jinn is a topic for many reasons. Foremost among those reasons is that humans, in general, do not have much contact with the jinn and, therefore, it is to gather much information about them. Secondly, the devils are known to be liars. Thus, even when a person does encounter them, he cannot put much trust in what they claim about themselves. Therefore, one must virtually rely only on the of the Quran and the authentic hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
